Scott Heinemann is a third generation farmer in Wayne County, Nebraska and former feedlot operator. Scott practiced no-till on around half of his row crop acres starting in the mid 90's and has been 100% no till since 2013. In 2006, he discontinued the feedlot and went to a high input corn/soybean rotation with the goal of maximizing yields but after a few years realized he needed to make changes.

In 2014, he added small grains to the rotation followed by multi species cover crops. He then began offering grazing opportunities to several neighbors. He is particularly interested in helping the younger generation succeed in a very competitive ag environment. Scott is also concerned about the loss of beneficial insects and wildlife due to intensive corn and soybean production and the heavy reliance on pesticides. In the past 20 years, he has planted hundreds of trees and shrubs as well as grassed waterways, buffer strips and pollinator plantings. He has hosted several field days and strongly believes that we are called to share and learn from each other.
