Alig Farm

Alig Farm is an Oklahoma Centennial Farm with a multi-decade history of regenerative practices. Matt and Jerry Alig are running cattle and sheep on a mix of annual and perennial forages. This year they started a wool pelletizing enterprise to turn sheep wool into a natural fertilizer and mulch product.

The Noble Foundation

Noble Research Institute

Lloyd Noble was born Nov. 30, 1896, in the young train depot town of Ardmore in what was then Indian Territory. His parents, Samuel Roberts and Hattie Noble, were pioneer merchants from New York, and Samuel and his brother, Edward, ran a hardware store in Ardmore. As a young boy, Lloyd delivered goods to the shop's customers, mainly farmers and ranchers from the area.

Jimmy and Spencer Smith

People didn’t use the term “cover crop” 50 years ago, but the Smiths were growing one.

Like his father and grandfather before him, Jimmy Smith grows rye as a companion to cotton. What some would call an innovation has long been considered a necessity in western Oklahoma. The year-round presence of a living root retains precious moisture in a drought-prone region and prevents wind erosion of sandy soils.

Tom Cannon Goodson Ranch

Tom Cannon was born March 6, 1968, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, the fourth generation of Goodson Ranch pioneer farmer/ranchers. Tom Cannon became unable to complete his collegiate education due to his father’s debilitating pickup wreck in 1997.

Finding the soil at 1% OM, Tom attended his first No Till on the Plains in January, 1998, a life-changing experience.  The new Goodson Ranch CEO sold all tillage equipment and converted to 100% no-till – and now, among other radical experiences, he finds his soil testing at over 3% OM.

Mark and Annette Thomas

Annette was born and raised on a fifth generation sheep and row crop farm in the Willamette Valley of western Oregon. She earned her Bachelor's in Animal Science and her Master's degree in Ruminant Nutrition with an emphasis in forages. She spent 10 years in the animal health and nutrition industry before transitioning to work on the farm, raise their girls and consult.
